What Is WIC? 

Women, Infants and Children (WIC) is a nutrition program that provides free health services to help keep families healthy.    

Am I Eligible?

To be eligible you must:

• Live in Missouri.
• Be pregnant, postpartum or breastfeeding; and/or have an infant/children under age 5.
• Have a family income that meets the Missouri WIC income guidelines. The guidelines can be found on the Missouri WIC website. 

What Can I Get?

• Healthy foods are provided to help meet nutritional needs. The WIC food package may include the following:
  • Milk, lactose free milk, soymilk, goat milk, evaporated milk, buttermilk
  • Tofu
  • Cheese
  • Yogurt
  • Eggs
  • Cereals
  • Peanut butter
  • Beans
  • Fruits and vegetables
  • Canned fish
  • Juice
  • Bread, tortillas, rice, or pasta 
  • Baby foods: cereal, fruits, vegetables, meat 
  • Formula for infants not fully breastfed
• Personalized nutrition counseling and information
• Breastfeeding education and help 
• Breast pumps and supplies, if eligible     
• Health screenings and referrals

How Do I Apply?

Moms, dads, grandparents, foster parents or legal guardians may apply on behalf of infants/children.

What Do I Bring?

At your first WIC appointment, you will need to bring the following information:

• Proof of current household income: Bring current (within 30 days) proof of income for everyone in your household. Examples include pay stubs or a letter from an employer. If you have TAFDC, Food Stamps or Medicaid, you can bring proof of your participation on one of these programs instead of proof of household income.
• Proof that you live in Missouri: Bring current (within 30 days) documentation of where you live. Examples include a utility bill, lease or a rent receipt from your landlord.
• Proof of identity: Bring identity for everyone applying. Examples include a driver’s license, birth certificate, Medicaid card, Social Security card, shot record, hospital crib card. 

Talk to WIC staff if you are having problems bringing any of the above information.
