Judge Sentences Man to 25 Years Following Jury Verdict

JEFFERSON CITY, MISSOURI (March 20, 2017)—The Presiding Circuit Judge Patricia Joyce sentenced Maurice Hogan to twenty-five (25) years today. This sentence was the result of a jury trial held February 14, 2017. The jury deliberated for approximately seven (7) hours before finding Hogan, 35, guilty of molesting a seven-year-old girl and exposing his penis to her, following the two-day trial before Judge Joyce in Cole County Circuit Court. Hogan was sentenced to 25 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for the child molestation in the first degree count, and five years for the sexual misconduct involving a child count to be served concurrently.

The case stemmed from Hogan’s actions between early May and late July in 2015. During the course of the investigation, Det. Jason Ambler, JCPD, uncovered evidence that Maurice Hogan engaged in acts of child molestation on the seven-year-old girl. Hogan was arrested by Jefferson City Police Department in July 2015.

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Tristin M. Cini tried the case for the State. She points to the diligent efforts of law enforcement, the hard work of many other professionals, and the courageousness of the victim and her family as the main reasons why the citizens of Cole County that served on the jury were able to reach a just decision.
