The Cole County Department of Public Works would like to advise the
motoring public that the new bridge on Liberty Road at Rising Creek is now open
to all vehicular traffic. The old
bridge, built in 1929 was a deficient one lane bridge in need of
replacement. Brenneke Construction, a
local contractor, was awarded the project to replace the bridge with a new two
lane structure. Construction began on
December 12, 2016 with removal of the old bridge and Brenneke Construction
completed the new bridge two weeks ahead of schedule.
Completion of this project will coincide with roadway improvements that
MoDOT will be doing on Highway 50/63 this summer as well as the replacement of
the Route J overpass bridge near Taos.
There is still finish work to do on the overall project outside of the
roadway that will not impact traffic on the bridge. This work is to be completed by April 15th.
The
Cole County Department of Public Works would like to apologize for any
inconvenience that the construction may cause.
Any questions in reference to this work or the road closure should be
directed to Public Works at 636-3614.
