[ARCHIVED] Cole County Deputies Save a Life With Narcan 03/06/2019

On March 6, 2019, at 10:12 PM, deputies were dispatched to 5400 block of Business 50 for a possible overdose. A female was reported to be not breathing and turning blue.

Deputies arrived on scene and found an unresponsive 22 year old female, who was not breathing and exhibited the signs of an opiate overdose. A deputy administered one dose of Narcan prior to EMS arrival. The female began breathing on her own and eventually became awake and alert. She was transported by EMS to Capital Region Medical Center for evaluation.

The Cole County Sheriff’s Department partnered with the Missouri Overdose Rescue Education Project (MORE), in conjunction with the Division of Health and Senior Services (DHSS), to provide Narcan to our deputies. This was a month long process that included training, as well as, writing and implementing policy. Thank you to all of those who assisted us in this task.
