[ARCHIVED] Weapons Violation 02/08/2019

On Friday, February 8, 2019, at approximately 03:49 am, the Cole County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 4500 block of Route E for a possible weapons violation. A subject called 911 and stated her and her husband had been shot and told us who had shot them. Upon arrival, deputies located two victims, one of them was deceased the other was taken to University Hospital in Columbia. 

A Jefferson City Police Officer was able to locate the suspect vehicle and tried to stop it.  The subject failed to yield and a pursuit ensued.  The subject was taken into custody in Holt Summit after the vehicle wrecked and a short foot pursuit. 

The suspect was taken to the Cole County Sheriff’s Department without further incident.  He was booked and processed with the charges of Murder 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action. 

The Cole County Sheriff’s Department would like to thank the Jefferson City Police Department, Holt Summit Police Department and the Callaway County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance in this case.

The deceased was identified as Clifton Withers (63 yoa).

The female victim has been released from the hospital.

The suspect was identified as Austin Corrigan (21 yoa). He has been formally charged by the Cole County Prosecutor for Murder 2nd, Assault 1st and Armed Criminal Action with no bond
