The Cole County Sheriff’s Department will be focusing on Driving While Intoxicated and Hazardous Moving Violations during the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s holidays. High-visibility enforcement throughout Cole County will run through New Year’s Day 2019. A MODOT grant will fund the overtime efforts.
In 2017, 932 people were killed on Missouri roadways and, so far in 2018, there have been 791. In many cases, those deaths involved an impaired driver or reckless driving behavior. We want everyone to safely enjoy the holidays.
Driving While Intoxicated includes impaired driving due to the use of alcohol and legal and illegal drugs.
