CARNEGIE BUILDING SITE IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT BEGINS NEXT WEEKConstruction work to improve the entrances and area around the Carnegie Building (located at 210 Adams Street) will begin on Monday, September 19th, weather permitting. Don Schnieders Excavating Co, Inc was awarded the $440,000 project by the County Commission in July. Phase 1 will consist of replacing the front stairs and adding ADA accessible ramps. The front entrance will be closed while the Contractor works on Phase 1. During this phase, the public may access the building through the back entrance and current ADA accessible entrance. Phase 2 will consist of work to the back entrance, parking upgrades and a new retaining wall in the back of the building.The project is scheduled to last through the winter months with a completion date of May 31, 2023.The Public Works department understands there will be inconveniences due to this project and we are being proactive in dealing with potential issues up front. We are excited about the long term benefits of this project and appreciate the public’s cooperation in this matter.
