The Civil Section is responsible for the service of all legal documents received by the Cole County Sheriff’s Office. These include:
- Child pickup orders
- Civil documents
- Garnishments
- Orders of protection
- Standby orders
They serve over 30,000 legal documents per year. Cole County is 3rd in the state for the amount of documents served. In 2023 we served 24,709 documents. The Civil Section is also responsible for conducting evictions and Sheriff Sales. The Civil Section is available Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
