The Cole County Posse is a volunteer group of trained citizens who assist the Cole County Sheriff’s Office with a multitude of tasks. The Posse has assisted with traffic control, parking lot security, DWI checkpoints as well as looking for evidence tossed from a vehicle.
Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program that stresses education and common sense. It teaches citizens how to help themselves by identifying and reporting suspicious activity in their neighborhoods.
R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) is an internationally recognized alliance of self-defense educators dedicated to empowering women. Through the program women are empowered by education, dependency on self, decision making responsibility, and self realization of physical power.

The Citizens Instructional Academy will include lectures, discussions and in-person visits to various divisions within the Sheriff's Office. It will show what all we do here at the Cole County Sheriff's Office.
