Randy Dampf was born and raised in Jefferson City and lived in Cole County his entire life. Randy graduated from Helias Catholic High School. He and his wife, Laura, of 31 years, have 4 children.
Randy began his law enforcement career in 1984 as a Jefferson City Police Reserve Officer and was hired as a full-time officer in 1986. During his career as a Police Officer, he served as a Patrol Officer, Narcotics Detective, Field Training Officer, Patrol Sergeant, Detective Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, Detective Lieutenant and finally, he was appointed as the Interim Commander of the Support Services Division. 

Randy retired from the Jefferson City Police Department in May of 2014 after 28 years of service. During his career, he was awarded the Medal of Honor for Valor and the Medal of Honor for Merit for his involvement and actions during two shooting incidents. 

Rand has received hundreds of hours of specialized police investigative training over the years and is a graduate of the Missouri Police Chief’s Association’s Command College. 
Randy enjoys coaching sports, as has coached many of his children’s sports teams over the years, such as baseball, basketball and football. Randy's other hobbies include working on automobiles and home projects. 

Randy's family attends St Peter Catholic Church where his wife has been a teacher for over 28 years
