Education
Tristin Estep graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of North Texas in 2012. During her last year at UNT, Tristin interned at the Child Protective Services Office for the Department of Family Services. As an intern, she worked in the investigations unit helping investigate allegations of child abuse and neglect.

Tristin received her J.D. from Saint Louis University School of Law in 2015 and graduated with dual concentrations in criminal litigation skills and civil litigation skills. During law school, Tristin interned at Voices for Children, where she advocated in and out of the courtroom for the best interests of children in foster care who were victims of abuse. She also worked as a student attorney in two of the law school’s in-house clinics. In the Children and Youth Advocacy Clinic, Tristin represented homeless youth in delinquency and municipal matters, as well as assisting with family law matters such as paternity and guardianship hearings. During her time in the Criminal Defense Clinic, Tristin represented indigent clients with mental illnesses who were facing criminal charges in the City of St. Louis.

Experience
Prior to joining the Prosecutor’s Office, Tristin worked for the Missouri Department of Social Services, Division of Legal Services, as an Assistant Special Counsel for the Family Support Division. Tristin represented the division in administrative hearings and drafted state law regulating programs for state benefits. She also advised executive staff on legal matters concerning public assistance programs.

Duties and Personal Life
Tristin joined the Cole County Prosecuting Attorney’s office in June of 2016. She has attended training by the National District Attorneys Association on Prosecution of Child Fatalities and Physical Abuse and Prosecution of Sexual Assault. She currently handles the following offenses for Cole County:

  • Domestic Assault
  • Violation of Orders of Protection
  • Child Abuse
  • Rape/Sexual Assault
  • Failure to Register as a Sex Offender
  • Sexual Assault/Molestation of a Child
  • Sexual Misconduct

Outside of work, Tristin enjoys baking, exercising, visiting her home state of Texas, and spending time with her family and friends.
