J. Scott Stacey attended University of Maryland, European Division, while he served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 8 years on active duty. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1989, cum laude, with majors in Industrial Engineering, Safety, and Industrial Hygiene. Mr. Stacey also served in Operation Desert Storm from October 1990 through January 1991.
Mr. Stacey received a Master of Science in Occupational Health and Safety, cum laude, in 1998 from La Salle University in PA. Mr. Stacey received another Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia College in 2000, Summa cum Laude, in Criminal justice and political science/pre-law. Mr. Stacey attended Southern Illinois University School of Law from 2003 through 2006, recipient of the dean’s list, president of environmental law society for 2 years, and received his J.D. in 2006 cum laude.
From June 2004 - July 2006, he was a law clerk for Dave Moen and Kent Brown, and from July 2006 - February 2007 he owned Stacey Law Firm, general practice firm. From February 2007 - May 2010, Mr. Stacey served as an Assistant Attorney General with the Missouri Attorney General’s Office, where he worked in Governmental Affairs. During his tenure with the AGO, he represented the State of Missouri in hundreds of trials before administrative tribunals and the circuit courts of Missouri; he also briefed and argued cases before the Missouri eastern and western district court of appeals, and the Missouri Supreme Court; and argued cases before the Federal Eastern and Western District Courts.
From May 2010 - June 2013, Mr. Stacey was in private practice with specialties in Family law, criminal law, administrative and environmental law, personal injury, civil suits, etc. and has tried numerous bench and jury trials throughout the State of Missouri.
Mr. Stacey joined the Cole County Prosecutor’s Office on July 1, 2013. When he is not practicing law, he enjoys spending time with his family (including his 2 cocker spaniels, children and grand children), riding his Harley, weight-lifting, martial arts, and playing the guitar and piano. Long-time member of the Masons, where he obtained: Past Master of Jefferson Lodge No. 43; Past Illustrious Master of Ezra Council No. 32; Excellent High Priest of Jefferson City Chapter No. 34; and looking forward to serving as Emminent Commander of Prince of Peace Commandery No. 19. He is currently serving as District Deputy Grand Master of District 23 of the Grand Lodge of the State of Missouri. He also has and continues to serve as the Judge Advocate for the American Legion Riders, Post 5.
