Telephone Policy
Phone Hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7-9 p.m.
  • Residents are allowed 1 outgoing call per designated day to immediate family (mother, father, legal guardian or grandparents) only (10-minute limit). Staff will place all collect calls or leave a message for the party to return calls to the resident.
  • Residents will be permitted to make calls to their caseworkers and juvenile officers on (Tuesday and Thursday) before school (8:10 a.m.).
  • All long distance calls will be made collect or with a calling card of the family’s choice.
  • Residents may receive incoming calls from their attorney, caseworker, or juvenile officer at any time during established business hours.
  • Residents may receive calls from their attorney, caseworker or juvenile officer at any time during regular business hours.
Every effort shall be made to facilitate reasonable privacy in contacts/visitation between the juvenile and his/her attorney, minister or professional counselor.

Visitation
Visiting Times: Saturday and Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Another visit may be pre-arranged with the Emergency Care Supervisor. Residents are permitted one-hour visitation per visitation day.
  • Visitations will be restricted to 2 members of the immediate family.
  • A list of approved visitors will be kept in each resident's file. This list will be checked prior to each visit.
  • All visitors are subject to search upon entering the facility. Personal belongings (purse, etc.) are not allowed in the facility.
  • A copy of the visitor's driver's license or other picture identification will be copied and placed in the resident's file.
  • The staff has the discretion to deny visitation. The denial will be reported to their supervisor who will review the situation. The visitor may contact the supervisor to discuss the denial of visitation. A visitor shall be denied visitation if he/she appears to be under the influence of any intoxicating substance, if their visit would present a danger to the health or well being of the residents or the safety of the staff.
  • Visitors are limited to the visitation room, front conference room, and classroom. Visitors will not be allowed in the bedrooms or any other area of the facility.
  • No food, drinks, or tobacco products (Review the Prenger Family Center visitation policy for more specific information regarding visits).
