Cole County Health Department offers pap smear screenings, infection checks, clinical breast exams, birth control/contraceptive counseling and reproductive health education for women with Medicaid or to women with no health insurance.
A pap Smear is a sampling of the cells on a woman’s cervix. It is designed to detect cell changes than can progress to cervical cancer. Any woman age 15 and older can make an appointment for birth control/contraceptive counseling. Every woman 21 and older should have a yearly exam that includes a pap smear, pelvic exam and clinical breast exam.
There is a Clinic fee of $40 fee, you are responsible for paying for this at the time of your visit. You are also responsible for the cost of the birth control option you choose. CCHD will see out of county clients for the same $40 clinic fee. Additional costs may apply depending on additional optional testing.
The Cole County Health Department offers Well Women Exams by appointment only every other Wednesday from 8-10:30am and 1-3:30pm.
